This year’s alumni awardees were recognised for both professional achievement and meaningful public impact. A Yale University graduate in Mechanical Engineering, she was named team MVP and earned All-American honours. She now works as a squash coach and as a college consultant, supporting student-athletes seeking opportunities in the United States.
Sariputra Tong has served on the Macao SAR Government Youth Affairs Committee since 2022, bringing youth perspectives into policy research and program development, supporting youth awards and task forces. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from King’s College London, where she is now completing a Master of Science in Global Finance & Banking. She also founded the Personal Development and Policy Investigation Group, leading student research advocating for stronger youth opportunity pathways and moral education.
The final recipient is Jenny Chan, who graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and became a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA Canada). She supports professional education as a CPA Common Final Examination Marker and contributes through mentoring and leadership, including serving as Co-Vice Chair of the Women of Urban Development Institute (WUDI) and mentoring with UBC’s Young Women in Business group.
In his address, TIS Head of School Lorne Schmidt stated that as an academic institution committed to empowering students for lifelong success, the annual Distinguished Alumni Award recognises the profound impact of TIS graduates across different fields and communities.
Grounded in TIS’s mission, this annual event reflects a commitment to nurturing students that meet the future with the courage to innovate, the passion to pursue excellence, and the character to embrace challenges. By celebrating alumni who translate their learning into lasting impact, TIS hopes to inspire current students to take initiative, strive for ambitious dreams and aspirations, recognising that they too have the potential to make a difference in the world.
