Building on their strong HKMKC results, Hayden (Grade 10) and Amy (Grade 11) also competed in the University of Waterloo mathematics competitions in April. These are among Canada’s largest math contests, attracting thousands of participants worldwide.
Hayden earned a Distinction Award (Top 25%) in the Galois Competition (Grade 10) with over 5,000 participants.
Amy delivered an outstanding performance in the Euclid Competition (Grade 11/12) with a score of 91 and placed in the top 0.3% of approximately 24,000 participants. She also received a Distinction Award.
At TIS, Mathematics remains a key focus area, helping students build strong skills and a competitive edge. As the foundational language of science, technology, engineering, and everyday problem-solving, Mathematics plays a vital role in developing logical reasoning, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities.
Thank you to our Math Department for the dedication and support. A special thank you to Ms. Williams and Mr. Geronimo for their outstanding commitment this year, as many of our award-winning elementary students developed their talents through the newly formed Elementary Math Clubs. We are excited to expand the clubs next year with an earlier start date and broader participation.
Congratulations to all our TIS mathematicians, your results are truly impressive! We are proud of every student who participated and look forward to seeing even more TIS learners join math activities next year. Keep reaching for excellence!
