TOK at TIS: Inspiring Critical Thinking and Reflection
Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a core component of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). It invites students to reflect deeply on the nature of knowledge and explore how we come to know what we claim to know.
We were delighted to welcome Mr. John Sprague to TIS for a series of enriching sessions with both our students and teachers. With over 25 years of TOK experience and more than 11 years working closely with the IB, Mr. Sprague shared strategies for success and practical skills to navigate TOK with confidence.
Our IB DP Year 1 students proudly presented their TOK Exhibition, demonstrating their ability to think critically and explore the multifaceted nature of knowledge. The interactive exhibition featured engaging displays that encouraged visitors to question assumptions and consider new perspectives.
At TIS, the IB DP experience goes beyond acquiring academic knowledge. It encourages students to examine the nature, scope, and limitations of knowledge itself, while nurturing interests and skills beyond the classroom. With every inquiry, discussion, and reflection, students challenged ideas, learned to think beyond their own perspectives, and connected knowledge across disciplines, carrying that mindset forward into their lives.
