TIS Middle School Experience Week 2026
Our Grade 7-9 students set off for TIS Experience Week with one shared goal: immerse in local cultures, develop new skills, and give back to the local communities they visited. Here are some of the adventures they took part in:
Vietnam
Grade 7 explored the ancient Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary, gaining insights into Champa history and architecture. Students made traditional pottery, cooked authentic Vietnamese dishes with local mentors, and learned to play bamboo instruments, bridging history, craft, and music together in a lively cultural immersion.
Singapore
Grade 8 immersed themselves in Singapore’s rich history and vibrant culture, exploring landmarks such as Victoria Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion, and the Kampong Glam. They studied sustainability and conservation at Marina Barrage, Gardens by the Bay, observed wildlife at the Night Safari, and engaged in thoughtful discussions at Haw Par Villa. They ended their journey in Sentosa Island, enjoying the Skyline Luge and the Wings of Time show.
South Korea
Grade 9 combined service, history, and adventure throughout their Experience Week. Students prepared and delivered grocery hampers to local families, explored landmarks such as Namsan Tower and Bukchon Hanok Village, and even attended a professional baseball game. A visit to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and a moving interview with a North Korean defector deepened their understanding of recent history, while a Nanta performance and traditional meals offered cultural immersion. The week wrapped up with a hands-on cooking class, rides at Everland, and a visit to Myeongdong, concluding an engaging and memorable finish to their trip.
At TIS, experiential learning is a crucial aspect of our curriculum. These hands-on opportunities help shape well-rounded, resilient students who think critically, solve problems, and act with empathy, ready to contribute positively to our global community.
