TIS Triumphs Once Again at the GBA Awards 2026
The International School of Macao (TIS) is proud to announce its accomplishments at the Greater Bay Area (GBA) School Awards, presented during the 21st Century Learning Hong Kong Conference 2026 (21 CLHK 2026), on March 12, 2026. TIS won in two categories, taking home the STEAM and Early Childhood Center awards.
The GBA School Awards celebrate educational excellence among schools in the Greater Bay Area, highlighting their innovative teaching practices. TIS’s recognition as a finalist and winner in these categories underscores our commitment to fostering a rich educational environment, as well as our robust curriculum with emphasis on critical thinking, technological literacy, and student-centred approach to learning, all essential components that prepare our students to excel in a rapidly evolving world.
“We are absolutely delighted to be recognized again,” said Lorne Schmidt, TIS Head of School. “This honour belongs to our teachers and staff, whose unwavering commitment to excellence and passion for innovation have created a culture of creativity schoolwide. These awards reaffirm not only the quality of our educational programs but also the effectiveness of our student-centered, interdisciplinary approach.”
In 2025, TIS submitted four entries, all of which reached the finals. We were honoured with the Student Agency Award, applauding our dedication to empowering students to take charge of their own learning journeys. Additionally, the School was a finalist in three other categories: Experiential Learning Program, Professional Learning and Staff Development, and STEAM. This year’s achievements further cement TIS’s role as a prominent leader in STEAM education, positioning it as a leading force in preparing students for the demands of the 21st century.
This recognition underscores TIS’s ongoing commitment to academic rigour and holistic development. By driving innovation and excellence, the School aims to contribute to the advancement of Macao’s educational sector, fostering a community that is well-prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.
