TIS Elementary and Middle School Experience Week
TIS Experience Week provides students with an invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse cultures, develop new skills, and enhance personal growth through hands-on learning. This initiative embodies our core values of responsibility, respect, student-centred, and caring, aligning with our mission to nurture socially responsible lifelong learners who make positive contributions to our global community. By engaging with these values in real-world contexts, students gain firsthand experience in diverse communities.

Throughout the week, both elementary and middle school students experienced a rich array of learning outcomes that promoted personal development and cultural understanding. Visits to significant cultural sites, like the Peng Family Ancestral Hall and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial, paired with hands-on activities such as pottery-making or learning to cook local dishes in Vietnam, deepened their appreciation for diverse traditions and histories. Challenging activities like cave rappelling in QingYuan and rock climbing in South Korea encouraged them to confront fears, fostering resilience and self-confidence. As they engaged in scavenger hunts at historical sites and explored local ecosystems while kayaking through mangrove forests, students enhanced their critical thinking skills by analyzing clues and contemplating the broader implications of historical events.
The week also highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration, as well as social responsibility. Students worked together on group projects, including crafting traditional art, while actively engaging in community service activities such as beach cleanups and 'Plogging' (Pick up trash while jogging) in South Korea, reinforcing their role in environmental stewardship. Ultimately, Experience Week empowered students to embrace social responsibility, motivating them to connect with local communities and recognise their potential as responsible global citizens.

By embracing new challenges and broadening their perspectives, students experienced remarkable personal growth, and we are looking forward to seeing the positive impact these experiences will have on their futures!
