TIS Hosts Winter Wonderland And Funderland
The International School of Macao (TIS) recently hosted its annual Winter Wonderland on December 13, bringing together families for an evening filled with delicious food, festive drinks, and engaging activities. This event not only showcased the vibrant spirit of the TIS community but also emphasised the importance of community engagement, providing fun for all ages and fostering connections among families.
The Winter Wonderland featured a variety of vendors showcasing unique arts and crafts, along with a book sale and a toy swap organized by the TIS Parents Association (TISPA) in collaboration with TIS Community Action (TISCA) - the School’s signature program that engages students with global issues through local action. These initiatives not only emphasized community engagement but also celebrated the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, the main focus of the TISCA program this year, reinforcing the school’s dedication to fostering a sustainable future while celebrating the joy of giving.
TIS is committed to giving back to the community across all grade levels. The Kindergarten team hosted the 6th annual Funderland, where, alongside festive food and drinks, students display their artwork—such as Christmas ornaments and canvas art—available for silent auction. Meanwhile, the Middle School Leadership students organized the annual TIS Giving Tree, collecting donations to support local charities. The funds raised from both initiatives benefited the Cradle of Hope Association (COHA), ensuring essential support for children during the holiday season. Through their involvement, students learn how their actions can directly make a positive impact in their community.
“Events like Winter Wonderland, Funderland, and the Giving Tree not only celebrate the festive season, but also reinforce our commitment to community service,” said Head of School Lorne Schmidt. “We are proud to instill values of caring, responsibility, and respect in our students while making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.”
