Book Swap

The Book Swap in the foyer held before and after school throughout the week allowed students to share a well-loved story with a peer. Our students learned that a good book is a gift that keeps on giving, discovering new stories and genres they never imagined they would enjoy. A special thank you to TISPA for helping host these sessions.

Buddy Reading

The Buddy Reading session showed that reading is a bridge between generations. As older and younger students exchanged ideas, our younger learners developed a sense of wonder, while the older students gained fresh perspectives on familiar stories, deepening their own understanding while nurturing the next generation of readers.

Author Visits

We were delighted to host acclaimed New York Times best-selling author Dan Gutman, best known for the children’s book series "My Weird School", to give an inspirational talk to our elementary students. His talk humanised the stories on our shelves and inspired students to believe that their own imaginations and voices have the power to shape the world.

Hands-on Activities

The library was packed with hands-on activities all week, including silent reading sessions, Mandarin storytelling, camouflage animal crafting, and a Safari Library Scavenger Hunt. Students learned that the library is not only a place of quiet study, but also a hub of active discovery.

Book Character Dress Up

To wrap up the week, students dressed up as their favourite book characters. Seeing the campus filled with heroes, explorers, and villains brought the magic of fiction into the real world, strengthening the emotional bond we have with our favourite tales.

In an era where digital screens often dominate our attention, we feel a deep responsibility as a school to protect the habit of reading. Reading provides knowledge, and knowledge allows you to navigate life with a clear compass, and gain confidence to advocate for yourself and others. We hope the curiosity sparked during book week continues to grow, reminding every student that the world has no limits when you choose to read, as knowledge truly has no bounds.
