The International School of Macao (TIS) proudly held its annual TIS University Fair 2024 on Monday, September 23rd, at the school’s secondary library. Marking its 13th consecutive year, the fair featured participation from esteemed universities from around the globe.
The event welcomed over 700 attendees, creating an engaging atmosphere for students from Macao and surrounding areas to receive personalised guidance on higher education options.
Distinguished guests included DSEDJ Functional Head, Department of Students, Ms. Hong Wai Man, DSEDJ Technician, Division of Quality Assurance, Ms. Leong Kuan Ieng, representatives from various educational institutions, alongside TIS administration, and academic counsellors who provided valuable insights to students and their families.
In his opening remarks, TIS Head of School Lorne Schmidt emphasised that the TIS University Fair is designed to equip students with essential and detailed information regarding university applications, degree programs, scholarship opportunities, and campus life around the world. The aim is to assist students in navigating their paths to higher education.
This year, representatives from universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States and New Zealand participated, among others, including several universities ranked in the top 100 globally, such as the University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, University of Warwick, and University of Hong Kong. Local institutions, namely, the University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macao University of Tourism and the University of Saint Joseph, also participated, showcasing the features of higher education in Macao and providing better options for students considering studying locally.
Benefiting from a rigorous curriculum and diverse learning opportunities, TIS students can obtain the Alberta High School Diploma, which is widely recognized by universities around the globe, alongside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) offered to enhance their competitiveness in higher education. From 9th to 12th grade, TIS provides one-on-one academic counselling services tailored to each students' individual needs, aligning with global university application requirements. This comprehensive support has helped graduates gain admission to numerous prestigious institutions worldwide.
