Celebrating TIS Families and the Mid-Autumn Festival
The International School of Macao (TIS) held its annual Welcome Back Barbecue on September 12th, 2024, marking the beginning of the new academic year, and providing an opportunity for community engagement. This year’s event was especially significant as TIS also celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival, the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
The evening began with a speech by Mr. Lorne Schmidt, TIS Head of School, who welcomed attendees and shared his enthusiasm for the year ahead. Mr. Schmidt emphasised the importance of these celebrations not only in honouring the School’s rich cultural heritage and diversity, but also in strengthening connections among students, parents and teachers.
The event successfully brought together both returning and new TIS families, fostering a sense of community within the vibrant school environment. Attendees enjoyed an array of catering, lively music, and captivating student performances that showcased the diverse talents of TIS students.
