TIS Welcomes New School Year

TIS held its annual Welcome Back Barbecue on September 17th, 2025, marking the beginning of the new academic year and enhancing community engagement among the TIS families. This year’s event featured a “Meet the Teacher” session, offering parents valuable insights into the upcoming school year.

The event commenced with the “Meet the Teacher” session, where parents from both the primary and secondary divisions met with their children’s teachers. Educators provided comprehensive overviews of the curriculum, teaching focuses, and academic goals for the new year, while also addressing parents' questions and equipping them with resources to support their children’s learning at home.

The partnership between home and school at TIS enriches parents' understanding of the school’s educational philosophy, fostering trust and collaboration between families and faculty. This face-to-face interaction enables parents to express their children's needs effectively, allowing teachers to adapt their instructional strategies based on their feedback.

Following the session, attendees gathered at TIS's front field to enjoy a school-wide barbecue. With over 1000 people in attendance, the evening was filled with delicious food, laughter, and a relaxed atmosphere, providing a wonderful opportunity for students to reconnect with peers and teachers, while parents deepened their connections within the TIS community.

TIS Head of School, Mr. Lorne Schmidt, shared his enthusiasm for the year ahead, emphasising  the importance of these celebrations not only in honouring the School’s rich cultural heritage and diversity, but also in strengthening connections among students, parents and teachers. “As we embrace our 2025/26 theme of Good Health and Well-Being, we aim to support our students not just academically, but holistically,” he stated.
