Welcome Back BBQ & Mid-Autumn Celebration
To welcome the new school year and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, The International School of Macao (TIS) hosted a series of campus events on September 24th, 2026, drawing over 1,200 students, parents, and staff. The day featured the 15th TIS University Fair, Curriculum Info & "Meet the Teacher" sessions, Grades 5 and 6 Experience Week Talks, and the annual Welcome Back BBQ, offering a relaxed environment for the community to connect.
During the “Meet the Teachers” sessions, teachers outlined the year's curriculum, teaching focuses and learning goals, answered parents' questions and shared practical ways to support learning at home. These face-to-face conversations help teachers understand each student's needs and deepen parents' understanding of the school's educational philosophy, laying a strong foundation for parent-school collaboration.
The Welcome Back BBQ on the front field brought families and staff together for food and games. Organized with help from the Student Council and Student Ambassadors, the event helped returning families to reconnect, welcomed new families to the TIS community, and gave students an opportunity to serve and lead.

Our Welcome Back BBQ and Meet the Teachers sessions are designed to strengthen that partnership, creating opportunities for families and educators to connect, ask questions, and align on how we support each student’s individual learning, wellbeing, and growth,” stated Head of School Lorne Schmidt
TIS remains committed to home-school collaboration and holistic student development. Through diverse campus events, the school fosters deeper connections between students, parents, and teachers, helping new families smoothly integrate into the community while giving parents greater insight into their children's learning and growth.
As the new academic year begins, TIS will continue to provide a safe, caring, and supportive learning environment, working alongside parents to nurture students' academic, personal, and character development.
